• The WESTMARK group was created in June 1987 when Holland America Line - then known as HAL-Westours purchased the remaining stock in Sheffield Enterprises and became the largest hotel chain in Alaska and the Yukon.
• WESTMARK HOTELS quickly established our name in the hotel community. We were the first hotel chain in Alaska to employ a Director of Safety, the first to strike a deal with Alaska Airlines for guest bonus miles, the first to recognize the need for fitness equipment in our hotels and one of the first hotel companies to establish a strong commitment to being environmentally sound.
• WESTMARK HOTELS has had a long history of working with groups to further encourage travel and trade and continues this today working closely with ATIA (Alaska Travel Industry Association), Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, the various Convention Bureaus in local hotel communities, American Red Cross, Rotary Club, Lions Club International and University of Alaska to name a few.
• Today, WESTMARK HOTELS & INNS, a subsidiary of Holland America Line, are strategically located along the Alaska Highway and in the major tourist destinations. We own and operate 10 hotels in 9 communities throughout Alaska and the Yukon. (with the exception of Sitka which is independently owned, but is managed and marketed by Westmark).
