If a visit to Denali National Park has been on your bucket list for a while now (if it hasn’t, go write it in immediately), we’re here to tell you that 2017 is the year to finally cross it off. We can’t think of a better time to visit one of the most beautiful places on earth as we celebrate its 100th anniversary of it officially being deemed a national park.
Our McKinley Chalet Resort is a fantastic jumping-off point to enjoy your Denali National Park vacation. Less than a mile from the park entrance, the hotel is home to a fine dining restaurant, a casual restaurant, an entertaining dinner theater experience and many rooms are even equipped with balconies for a front-row view of stunning landscapes. Really, is there any better way in the world to take your morning coffee?
New since last year is the Denali Square complex, a fun gathering place for the whole family with fire pits, live entertainment and delicious dining options, including a family-style meal at the Gold Nugget Saloon featuring smokehouse barbeque and Alaska salmon.
Of course, as much fun as our property can be, you should also spend some time inside the actual park. Since it’s Denali’s birthday year, there’s a whole slew of activities to take part in, including a summer centennial kick-off event, a 100-year Denali staff reunion, a ribbon-cutting to kick off the opening of the newly updated park headquarters, a community celebration in Talkeetna and an open challenge to log 100 human-powered miles inside the park by the end of the year.
Make sure to also save some time for exciting excursions like river rafting, an ATV tour, flightseeing, fishing and more. Just stop by the guest service desk and we can get you all set up for the day’s adventure. When you’re feeling more low-key, a day hike on one of the park’s many trails is a great way to wind down and soak up nature at the same time.
Whether you’re looking to plan an unforgettable family trip, a honeymoon or your very own birthday celebration, this is definitely the year to spend your vacation time in Denali National Park. After your first visit, we’ll put money on you finding your way back again in no time!
