It’s August, and summer is still in full swing at Westmark hotels in Alaska and Yukon. But with summer solstice behind us and autumn quickly approaching, there’s no time like the present to start planning for fall and winter meetings and events. If you’re looking for a destination for your next company convention or wedding reception, consider reserving a space at a Westmark Hotel. With 10 hotels and inns, five of which are designated conference and convention centers, Westmark surely has just the right spot for your needs. To top it off, all of our properties are surrounded by scenic views and numerous visitor attractions.
It’s no big revelation that Alaska and Yukon are mostly considered summer destinations. Sure, there are those ski enthusiasts who relish the sight of fresh snow, or people who plan a winter trip around the chance to witness the splendor of the northern lights, but for the most part these winter playgrounds are largely populated by locals. The close of the summer season means local Westmark Hotels throughout Alaska and Yukon are well-positioned to host meetings, conventions and special events of all sizes. Westmark hotels in Juneau, Fairbanks, Anchorage and Sitka, Alaska and in Whitehorse, Yukon all have conference and meeting rooms and a diligent staff to assist you throughout the entire planning process.
Here’s a look at two of our hotels and the amenities they offer:
Westmark Anchorage Hotel
The Westmark Anchorage Hotel’s catering menu frequently receives rave reviews from customers. According to Vicki Logan, the hotel’s sales manager, guests regularly tell her how great the food is and compliment the range of options available. The Westmark Anchorage Hotel also boasts a great location on one of downtown Anchorage’s main streets, 5th Avenue. Adjacent to the Egan Center and Anchorage Center for the Performing Arts, it offers great views of the Chugach Mountains or Cook Inlet from the private balconies of its 198 rooms and suites. The 14th-floor Penthouse Suite is an ideal space for company Christmas parties, and the Turnagain Room is a lovely spot for an intimate wedding reception, with its glass block wall and natural sunlight. The hotel also offers guests reduced parking rates right outside the lobby.
Westmark Whitehorse Hotel
Meanwhile, Yukon’s biggest city and business center boasts the 180-room Westmark Whitehorse Hotel and Conference Center, the largest hotel in the Yukon. The Steele Street Restaurant seats up to 200 diners and three private dining rooms located off the main restaurant can be reserved as well. A conference or special event at this hotel will undeniably keep your guests happy with the great atmosphere of this mountain town and its recreation opportunities.
