Here’s your opportunity to become the connoisseur of great beer you’ve always wanted to be! The best place to conquer this goal is in Anchorage at the 22nd Annual Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival — one of the most anticipated things to do in Anchorage each year. Check out this event on January 22 & 23, 2016 at the William A. Egan Civic & Convention Center, just a two-minute walk from the Westmark Anchorage Hotel, and discover whether you are more of a stout, pale ale or a pilsner kind of person.
Every year, Alaska joins the rest of the world in setting aside time to celebrate beer, barleywine and all the tasty beverages in between. With a growing number of local brewing establishments creating special Alaska beer, the festival has become one of the favorite things to do in Anchorage. There is such an abundance of great locally crafted brews in the 49th state that Alaska’s beer “week” actually lasts 10 days! The Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival is the flagship event celebration. Throughout the festival, about 75 of the region’s best breweries will offer samples of more than 400 pale ales, stouts, pilsners, porters, specialty brews, barleywines, Belgian ales and more. The Connoisseurs’ Session even offers an extra bonus of meeting face-to-face with the brewers, brewery owners and sales representatives.
The Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival also provides the chance to enjoy delicious brews accompanied by live music performances. It’s plain to see why this event is sold out year after year. A full list of events going on throughout Alaska Beer Week is available here. Past events have included a debut of Midnight Sun Brewing Company’s 3,000th batch of beer, $5 goblets throughout the week at St. Elias Brewing, cupcake and beer pairings, Celestial Mead’s Open House, Dusty Beer Days and much more.
Whether you are coming to Anchorage especially for the beer festival or live in Anchorage and can’t wait to attend, book a room at the Westmark Anchorage Hotel for a great time with no driving involved.
