Westmark Hotels is dedicated to providing a safe environment for our guests, team members and the greater community. To protect the health and safety of everyone, we are closely monitoring and continue to implement preventive measures in line with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local health agencies.

For safety reasons:

  • A verbal questionnaire will be conducted upon check-in. If a guest has any symptoms or a temperature of 100.4 or higher, they will not be allowed to stay.
  • Masks are required for all guests in public areas.
  • Visitors of guests are expected to adhere to the same protocols.

Enhanced sanitation procedures have been developed by our Corporate Safety & Public Health Departments and approved by our Chief Medical Officer. Our COVID-19 Mitigation Plan has been filed with the State of Alaska and all of our teams have been trained to all elements of the plan requirements.  A copy of the plan is posted at each property.

Some specifics of our proactive, preventive procedures include:

  • Restaurant capacity reductions and spacing requirements, as well as touchless ordering/payment, delivery and pick up service available.
  • Increasing the efficacy of the air handling filtration of our hotel common areas, restaurants and aboard our motor coaches by installing the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) Merv 13 air filters.
  • Air handling equipment settings will be adjusted to increase the inflow of fresh air and in turn reducing the amount of recirculated air.
  • Use of an EPA approved sanitizing agent to kill the virus on surfaces.  We have increased the cleaning frequency of the front desk and all public areas including bathrooms, lobby seating areas and all guest facilities such as gift shops, computer rooms, espresso bars and guest laundries.
  • We use this same strength sanitizer in our guest rooms on all contact surfaces, all touch points and furniture as well as the bathrooms and makeup areas. Bedding is changed between each guest and laundered in our own commercial laundry facility, using laundry cleaners that are rated effective against flu viruses.

We also encourage you to read about the State of Alaska’s health mandates when making your travel plans.

Westmark Fairbanks Hotel and Conference Center modified closure

To our valued guests and community,

The health and safety of our team members, guests and their families remains of utmost importance to us. Given the public nature of our business and the recent health mandates issued by Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily modify our hotel operations effective Monday, April 6, to support the containment of COVID-19.

Following the Governor’s directive – as well as guidance from local agencies, the federal government and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – we will only do business with entities classified by the state as offering essential services and providing critical infrastructure.

We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust accordingly to do what is best for the public health and safety and provide updates at westmarkhotels.com.

Be safe, and we look forward to you staying with us soon during your future travels.

    Sincerely,

    Cory Kilchrist
    Assistant General Manager
Westmark Fairbanks Hotel and Conference Center

To our valued guests and community,

The well-being of our team members, guests and their families remains of utmost importance to us. Out of an abundance of caution, and in an effort to help contain the further spread of COVID-19 and align with the evolving guidance from federal and local health officials, we have made the decision to temporarily close the Westmark Anchorage Hotel effective March 25.

We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust accordingly to do what is best for the public health and safety and provide updates at westmarkhotels.com.

Be safe, and we look forward to you staying with us soon during your future travels.

Health Mandate from the Governor of Alaska:
With the goal of minimizing in-person interaction in enclosed spaces, effective March 18 at 5pm and continuing until April 1 at 5pm, all public dine-in service within the state of Alaska shall be closed to the public.  While the restaurants in our hotels will be closed to dine-in service, we will offer take-out options for our valued guests.

    March 17, 2020
Westmark is dedicated to providing a safe environment for our guests, team members and the greater community. To protect the health and safety of everyone, we are closely monitoring the evolving situation with COVID-19 and doing our very best to respond in a timely manner. We ask for your understanding and patience as we all work through this together. Please check this page for ongoing updates.

We will continue to implement preventive measures in line with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local health agencies.

Enhanced sanitation procedures have been developed by our Corporate Safety & Public Health Departments and approved by our Chief Medical Officer. Some specifics of our proactive, preventive procedures include:

    • We have increased the cleaning frequency of the front desk and all public areas including bathrooms, lobby seating areas and all guest facilities such as gift shops, computer rooms, espresso bars and guest laundries. We use an accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide sanitizing agent to kill the virus on surfaces. At our regular cleaning levels, this sanitizer is lethal to the COVID-19 virus within 30 seconds. During our current enhanced procedures, we have doubled the strength of the sanitizer to provide even more lethality to the virus. Our procedures call for a contact time (leaving the sanitizer on a surface) for 5 minutes, which gives us a sizable safety factor.
    • We use this same strength sanitizer in our guest rooms on all contact surfaces, all touch points and furniture as well as the bathrooms and makeup areas. Bedding is changed between each guest and laundered in our own commercial laundry facility, using laundry cleaners that are proven effective against flu viruses.

Please Note: As of March 16th, the Municipality of Anchorage declared a state of emergency which limits dining to take-out and delivery alone. While our in-dining will be closed, we will offer take-out for our guests at the Westmark Anchorage Hotel.

Finally, we ask that the following individuals cancel their stay and not check in to the hotel. Rest assured, we will provide a full refund to guests who must cancel.

    • Any individual who has traveled from or through the following countries that have a Level 3 Travel Health Notice (widespread, ongoing transmission) within the last 14 days, including transit through their airports (list updated on March 25, 2020):
